We are excited to announced that Andrew Best will join our practice as our newest psychotherapist.
Meet Andrew: From Goaltender to Psychotherapist (and Leafs Fan!)
Hello everyone! My name is Andrew, and I’m thrilled to be joining the CPYC team as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). You might be wondering how someone who used to spend their days stopping pucks ended up in children’s psychology, and to be honest, I’m still a little surprised myself!
For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children and youth in Simcoe County, as well as in remote communities across Northern Ontario and Quebec. This work has been incredibly eye-opening. I’ve seen firsthand just how resilient young people can be, bouncing back from tough situations, and how much they can thrive with the right support. It’s truly an honor to play a small part in their positive journeys, and I’m excited to continue that work here at CPYC.
My passion for helping kids improve their behavioral outcomes, combined with these experiences, ultimately led me to shift from assessment to focusing on psychotherapy. It feels like a natural fit, and I’m eager to contribute to the positive progression of our clients.
Now for a little about me outside of the office: I’m a massive hockey fan. I even spent a good chunk of my life between the pipes as a goaltender! These days, my connection to the game is through coaching the goaltenders for the Penetang Kings Junior Hockey Club.
And, as spring rolls around, I make one solemn promise: I’ll be right there with you, mourning the Maple Leafs’ early exit from the playoffs. Some traditions are just too strong to break!
I’m really looking forward to getting to know the CPYC team and supporting children and youth in our Communities.
