HomeBlogWelcome, Ron

We are excited to announce Ron Fast, has joined our practice as our newest psychotherapist.

It is a pleasure to be joining the CPYC team in Collingwood!

Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the opportunity to live and work in a number of different countries including South Korea, Japan, Thailand, China, Sri Lanka, Philippines, India, Myanmar, and Switzerland. During that time, I had the privilege of supporting both expatriate and local communities from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

My experiences abroad have not only deepened my understanding of the many ways people navigate adversity, relationships, identity, and personal growth, but have also helped me appreciate unfamiliar cultures, roles, and communities. In addition, I have learned to develop a personal appreciation for the uncertainty that can accompany transition and for the importance of having relationships characterised by unconditional positive regard. Non-judgemental relationships allow us to be vulnerable and to reveal and grow our authentic selves. For me, personally, this has shaped who I am and the approach to my work with others as we seek to live with resilience, to grow feelings of connection, and to live a meaningful life.

I believe therapy is not about changing who you fundamentally are. Rather, it is about developing a deeper understanding of yourself, cultivating self-acceptance, and living more authentically. Meaningful change begins when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported. From that foundation, we can explore experiences from the past, heal emotional wounds, and better understand how they continue to shape your present. Together, we can also explore how your relationships, family, culture, and life experiences have influenced the way you see yourself and the world, while working toward the life you hope to create.

I earned a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2002. For most of my career, I practiced as aPsychologist licensed in Australia before transitioning to registration as a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario in preparation for my return to Canada. Throughout my career, I have worked with adults, adolescents, couples, and families seeking support, healing, greater understanding, and lasting change.

You can learn more about my therapeutic approaches and areas of practice on the CPYC website. If you feel we may be a good fit, I invite you to reach out to arrange a complimentary consultation.
